FLL Meetings: January 23, 2008
Harford County Library LEAP Program Grand Opening Featuring all
Four TechBrick Teams
 Held at
the Edgewood Branch Library
Cool demonstrations, free stuff, lots of friends.
TechBrick is was part of a program called "Project LEAP"
(for 'Learn Explore And Play'.) The
motto for the program is: "Science is Fun"
The grant was given to "Encourage children
in Harford County to pursue science and
technology to meet the emerging needs of the
region to keep them interested in science."
The library is beginning a program to
provide science and technology resources to
library patrons. You'll enjoy the
demonstrations and you should come to learn
more about the program.
We were the main attraction. We setup the FLL table, the FTC corner and
robots, and our JFLL boards and projects along with an FLL
and FTC programming
station. Visitors will
had an opportunity to try the robots, our
experiments, and other models.
There were more than 60 children in
attendance along with their parents. The FLL
Project Team presented their research. Then the
FLL robot/programmers demonstrated all the
missions. They were followed by the JFLL teams
who each explained their presentations. Finally,
our FTC team showed their robot and explained
its unique features. After that we opened the
floor up to the kids to explore our work. The
photos below tell the story.
The overall interest in all the programs was
overwhelming. There were no less than 10 parents
who indicated an interest in starting teams in
their schools.
