Techbrick FTC Team 7,
the Voltage Vipers Competed in the
Washington DC Qualifier at Sidwell
Friends School on December 9, 2012. Team
members included Will, John, Mark,
Kevin, Callum, Jarrett, and Amos. The
team competed in seven qualifying
matches during the day, and then were
the third alliance selection for the
finalists matches.
The judges were
impressed with the team’s unique
approach, as the robot scored in all
phases of the game (autonomous, tele-op,
and end-game).
The Vipers were one of
the few teams to score in the autonomous
program, placing a ring on the left goal
post.
In the teleop period,
the Vipers could score rings on the low
goals as well as weight the rings to
achieve the ring bonus. In the end game,
the robot deployed a ramp which allowed
another robot to drive on top of it,
scoring a 35 point bonus. The Vipers
earned the Innovate Award and were
finalists for the Design and Motivate
Awards.
